Wax, Burnout, and Finding Light: How I Found My Passion

If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be melting wax and making candles for a living, I would’ve probably laughed (and definitely spilled something in the process). Back then, I was deep in the world of mental health, helping people navigate their emotional struggles while quietly dealing with my own. The irony wasn’t lost on me.

Between long hours, endless paperwork, and emotional exhaustion, I hit a wall—one that definitely didn’t smell like roses. In fact, it probably smelled like stale coffee and burnt-out dreams. One day, in a moment of “I just need to do something else,” I grabbed some wax and decided to try making a candle. It wasn’t supposed to be life-changing, just a distraction. Just to see if it would help.

And somehow, amidst the melting wax and mixing scents, something shifted. I felt... calm. It wasn’t immediate, but it was there. Who knew that a simple candle could bring so much peace? Candle-making turned out to be a type of therapy I didn’t know I needed—a way to slow down, be creative, and bring a little light into my life.

So, here I am—a chandler, navigating the unknown one candle (or wax melt) at a time. Just like a freshly poured candle needs time to cure, my journey is still unfolding, and I’m discovering new things every day.

Sometimes, a candle or wax melt takes a quirky turn—an unexpected swirl, a fragrance that surprises you, or a shape that wasn’t part of the plan. And in many ways, so has my life. This blog is where I’ll share everything I’ve learned about scent, self-care, and finding unexpected joy in small, quirky rituals.

Now, let's talk about you—what’s your go-to candle scent, and what kind of mood does it create? Drop your answers in the comments—I’d love to hear about the scents that bring you peace (or at least help you unwind after a long day)!
